Rajnath Singh holds meeting to chalk out new strategy for Jammu and Kashmir

As incidents of terror attacks increase in Jammu and Kashmir, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday held a high-level meeting in the capital to chalk out new strategies to deal with the rising violence and discussed preventive actions to deter terror groups.

The minister met top military leaders including Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Director General of Military Operations, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and representatives of intelligence agencies responsible for Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources said the current security situation in the Union Territory, which is witnessing increasing incidents of terrorist attacks, especially in Jammu region, was thoroughly assessed and a new strategy was discussed to minimise casualties of soldiers. They added that the meeting was held under a solution-oriented approach.

The Defence Minister, who visited Rajouri area twice in recent times, also discussed preventive action strategies to deter terrorist attacks and measures to strengthen the intelligence gathering apparatus.
