Laurel County man to be sentenced in police officer’s murder

LONDON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Sentencing for Casey Byrd, a man convicted of killing London Police Officer Logan Medlock in a drunken driving crash, is scheduled for Monday in Laurel County.

Earlier this month, a jury convicted Byrd of murder in connection with the 2022 death of Officer Medlock. Investigators said Byrd was driving drunk on South Main Street in London when he struck and killed Officer Medlock.

The jury recommended a 20-year prison sentence for Byrd.
