A’ja Wilson Shows Off AKA-Inspired Sneakers at WNBA Game

A’ja Wilson is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated sorority, and her shoes prove it. The Las Vegas Aces star wore her sorority-colored sneakers to a recent WNBA game.

Wilson wore the new Nike LeBron 21 PE (player exclusive) during the Aces’ game against the Atlanta Dream on August 30. In keeping with the Black Greek organization’s tradition, the shoes featured salmon pink and apple green in their colorway. Nice Kicks posted close-up images of Wilson playing in the special edition sneakers.

According to Sports IllustratedWilson became a member of the AKA while at the University of South Carolina. She continued her membership while leading the Gamecocks to a national championship. Additionally, Wilson cemented her reputation as the NCAA Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player and a three-time SEC Player of the Year.

Wilson continues to make an impact in her professional career. Since joining the Aces during the 2018 WNBA Draft, Wilson has led the team to back-to-back championships, earning two wins and the 2023 Finals MVP award. The athlete has earned numerous accolades, making her a dominant force in the league while remaining true to her affiliations elsewhere as well.

AKA’s official Instagram account also celebrated the 28-year-old’s victory as back-to-back champion. The sorority called Wilson their “MVP sister” in the celebratory post.

In pursuit of a third title this year, the sneakers didn’t stop the show as Wilson earned another victory for the Aces. In 37 minutes of play, ESPN reported that the center had 26 points and 16 rebounds, with 5 assists and blocks.

The star is a force on and off the field, showcasing his many fraternities while continuing to rack up new stats. With the playoffs approaching, Wilson will be hoping to make both his home teams proud with another victory in the final.
