Family spends night in cold after fire
A family in Bureti, Kericho County, spent Sunday night in the cold after their house was razed to the ground.

The incident occurred in the village of Chebarema located in the locality of Kabartegan.

Family members, led by Gideon Koech, said the fire broke out while family members were at the church.

“The mysterious cause of the fire has not yet been established as we were not home at the time,” Koech said.

Villagers raised the alarm after noticing huge smoke coming from the house.

This is not the first incident reported by the family this year. “My house was burned down earlier this year. Another house under construction was also burned down. My parents’ house suffered the same fate,” Koech lamented.

Members of the public attempted to extinguish the fire but their efforts were in vain. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
