Linkin Park Announces New Singer, Tour, and Album: Listen to the New Song

It’s official: Linkin Park has a new singer.

The popular 2000s rock band announced Thursday at a global livestream event that Dead Sara’s Emily Armstrong will be LP’s new co-lead singer for a reunion tour and upcoming album. Armstrong and new drummer Colin Brittain (songwriter and producer for G Flip, Illenium and One OK Rock) will join Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell and Joe Hahn on the lineup.

Linkin Park have released a new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” which will serve as the lead track from the band’s upcoming album, “From Zero,” out November 15. It will be the Grammy-winning band’s first full-length album since 2017, when original lead singer Chester Bennington passed away.

“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. The title of this album refers to both those humble beginnings and the journey we are currently on,” Shinoda said in a statement. “Sonically and emotionally, it speaks to the past, present and future, embracing our signature sound but renewing it and filling it with life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our bandmates new and old, our friends, family and fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years and excited for the journey ahead.”

The trip will include six stadium shows, including dates in Los Angeles, New York, London, Hamburg, Seoul and Bogota. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday, September 7 at 10 a.m. ET on Live Nation.

Linkin Park was one of the most successful bands of the 2000s, with its blend of hip-hop, alternative rock and nu metal. The band fueled rumors of a reunion tour with a countdown last month, but made no announcement at the time. Speculation and fans have been searching for a singer to replace Bennington, including Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley and Evanescence’s Amy Lee.

Linkin Park, known for their Grammy-winning hits “In the End,” “Numb,” “What I’ve Done,” “One Step Closer” and “Crawling,” released a new greatest hits compilation earlier this year, including a new song, “Friendly Fire.” Shinoda is also known for his work as a solo artist and with Fort Minor.
