School officials, police respond to alleged threat at Hononegah football game

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) – Hononegah High School officials are expecting a “safe and orderly” football game Friday night after a threat began circulating on social media.

During a monthly update call to parents Friday night, Hononegah High School Principal Chad Dougherty responded to the alleged threat, saying it had been investigated and addressed by local law enforcement.

Dougherty said he understands the concerns of parents and families, especially given the violence that occurred this week at schools in Georgia and Maryland.

It is unclear whether the individual suspected of sending the reported threat will face any consequences.
