Teen Shot Dead At Joppatowne High School, Suspect In Custody

A teenager was killed and a suspect is in custody after a shooting at Joppatowne High School in Harford County, Maryland, Friday afternoon.

Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler said the school resource officer and principal intervened in a fight in a first-floor bathroom at the school.

Gahler said a gun was fired and struck the victim.

The suspect, a 16-year-old boy, fled the toilets and the school but was later taken into custody.

The victim, Warren Curtis Grant, 15, was airlifted to a nearby trauma center and has since been pronounced dead.

Gahler said the teen will be charged in connection with the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Harford County Public Schools sent an email to all Joppatowne High School families and the community.

This is an important message to our Joppatowne High School community. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school today for an isolated incident on campus. There was a fight on campus between known individuals. A weapon was brought to campus and used in the incident. HCSO and HCPS are working together to get this information to you. The weapon used in the incident has not yet been found.
