Silent Tragedy: Teenage Victims in the West Bank

Silent Tragedy: Teenage Victims in the West Bank

Much of the world’s attention has been focused on the deadly conflict in Gaza, but dozens of Palestinian teenagers in the West Bank have also been killed, shot and arrested in a months-long crackdown by the Israeli military.

Since the war began last October, more than 150 children under the age of 17 have died every day in Hamas raids in southern Israel. Amnesty International has condemned the use of disproportionate and unlawful force.

The Israeli military says its intensified operations are aimed at apprehending militants, claiming that the majority of those killed were armed or involved in terrorist activities. However, human rights groups and witness testimonies paint a complex and worrying picture of the violence affecting Palestinian youth.
