Dad reportedly threw child against the wall after becoming frustrated with video games

MILWAUKEE (WISN) – A 20-year-old father admitted to throwing his son against a wall because a video game irritated him, authorities said.

Prosecutors have released disturbing new details about the alleged child abuse case that unfolded in a Milwaukee apartment.

Police say Jalin White was playing the video game NBA 2K and “was down 2 points in the fourth quarter of the game.” He “became frustrated” and allegedly threw his eight-month-old son against the wall.

White was in court on Saturday. Prosecutors charged him with physical abuse of a child and neglect of a child resulting in great bodily harm.

“The defendant has confessed to this incident,” said Milwaukee Assistant District Attorney Madeline Witte. “The suspect is also the only person who has the ability and opportunity to cause this harm to the victim.”

The criminal complaint states White told investigators, “I heard the wall. It was hard on his mind. It was difficult. It was a loud, loud wall.”

Prosecutors say the baby now has a traumatic brain injury and is “not expected to survive.”

If the child does die, prosecutors will upgrade the charge to murder.

“This is probably going to be a murder,” Witte said. “This is a serious level of violence for an innocent child who has suffered multiple injuries.”

Other injuries were discovered by hospital staff. These included a broken collarbone and six rib fractures, all in various stages of healing.

“This does not appear to be the first abusive behavior involving this child, based on the fact that there are multiple stages in the healing of broken ribs,” the court commissioner said.

White could be seen shaking his head as the court commissioner spoke. She ordered White held on $100,000 bail.

If convicted, White could face up to 62 years in prison, but that total could increase if the baby does not survive.
