Joe Rogan revealed why he decided to interview the former president Donald Trump after years of rejecting the conversation.

The former UFC commentator’s admission came during Friday’s highly anticipated interview on The JRE, in which Trump called the presidency a “very dangerous thing” as the two spoke about a wide range of political and cultural issues.

He referred to Trump’s August podcast interview with comedian Theo Von, followed by an appearance by the Republican presidential candidate’s running mate, Senator JD Vance, on the same program.

“Is that why you called me to do this,” Trump asked Rogan, smiling.

“No,” Rogan responded. “When they shot you, I thought, ‘He’s got to come in here.'”

Stressing that “it’s all about timing,” he added: “the timing is perfect.”

Trump talks about his ear injury

The topic of discussion quickly turned to Trump’s injuries, which he suffered after 20-year-old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at his July 13 rally in Pennsylvania, killing a firefighter. Corey Comperatore.

Rogan asked if Trump had a scar on his ear.

The Republican presidential candidate showed the wound behind his right ear and commented: “It stung there.”

Rogan replied, “It healed pretty well.”

Friday’s interview follows years in which Rogan turned down several opportunities to invite Trump to his popular show.

Appears on Lex Fridman In a 2022 podcast, Rogan stated: “I’ve had the opportunity to have him on my show more than once, I’ve said ‘no’ every time. I don’t want to help him. I have no interest in helping him.”

He further stated that he is not a Trump supporter.

Joe Rogan hopes Kamala Harris appears on his show

Elsewhere, Rogan hinted at his efforts to get Vice President Kamala Harris to join his podcast, but he said she hasn’t confirmed a date yet.

Following his comments said Trump took aim at his Democratic rival, joking, “Can you imagine Kamala doing this show? She would be on the ground.”

In response, Rogan insisted that he wanted Harris on his show, saying, “I would talk to her as a human being and try to have a conversation with her.”
