26-year-old man and 12-year-old girl die in Alexandria shootings one block apart, just 12 hours apart

A 12-year-old girl and a 26-year-old man died of gunshot wounds in Alexandria within 12 hours, a block away from each other, police said.

These are the third and fourth violent deaths in the city in 24 hours. On Friday night, a man shot three people in his own business on Jackson Street, killing a family member and himself.

Just hours after the murder-suicide, the Alexandria Police Department responded to a shooting in the 2900 block of Locust Street, near Dallas Avenue.

Officers found Justin May, 26, of Alexandria, dead “from an apparent gunshot wound,” a news release said.

The department has issued a second-degree murder warrant for John Kimbro, 32, who is considered armed and dangerous, the statement said.

On Saturday around 8:45 a.m., the police department responded to another shooting a block away in the 2900 block of Cypress Street. An unidentified 12-year-old girl was found dead from a gunshot wound, a second news release said.

Another injured person was taken to hospital, where he is in stable condition, it said.
