There’s no fool like an old fool and that perfectly describes Eamonn Holmes

It was the evening of Friday the 13th when Ruth Langsford took to Instagram to share a video of herself at home eating a meal for one.

She happily recounted how her caring son Jack, 22, had chosen and ordered his favourite takeaway curry.

Meanwhile, her 28-year-old former partner Eamonn Holmes was hundreds of miles away, cruising around the Mediterranean with his new girlfriend Katie Alexander.

And yesterday they were photographed together in Ibiza, in the most embarrassing public display of affection: he grabbed Katie’s butt.

Somehow Ruth made another impression, this time for charity, and took part in a walk for people affected by dementia.

Eamonn’s new love is just 42.

She is young enough to be his daughter.

He and Ruth are both 64 years old.

Many would think that it is the rejected Ruth who is the unlucky one in this public scenario.

But I don’t.

I think she was very lucky to escape a man who showed not an ounce of respect for their 14 year marriage.

The couple announced their separation in May.

No “conscious decoupling”, no “maintaining friendship” for these two.

The announcement of their separation was brutal: they were going to divorce.

And Eamonn’s actions since then have been pretty brutal too.

The rot in their marriage had apparently set in because they were no longer working together on This Morning and had become like ships in the night with separate new careers.

But this article revealed that Eamonn had in fact left the marital home after Ruth found messages between him and marriage counsellor Katie on a laptop.

The couple had been texting for NINE years and over the past year Ruth discovered he had showered her with gifts including tickets to a Beyoncé concert and accompanied her on a trip to a safari park.

After moving into a rented flat in south-west London, Katie has become a visitor. It’s very sad.

But marriages break up and men meet younger women.

He is not the first and will not be the last.

Look at Paul Hollywood, Ronnie Wood and Rowan Atkinson.

But then he and Katie flew off on a luxury trip.

And that’s where any ounce of sympathy I had for Eamonn completely disappeared.

Showing off your new romance just weeks after announcing your divorce is always going to cause pain and heartache for the other person in any breakup.

It’s hurtful, selfish and insensitive after such a long marriage.

He didn’t even have the decency to remove his wedding ring before staring in wonder at his new, younger model.

Ruth’s Loose Women co-stars have said she is “doing really well” and are supporting her.

Good. Because I guess right now she needs that support.

Just five years ago, Eamonn said their marriage worked because of “consideration”, while Ruth said it was because of “laughter”.

He doesn’t seem to be behaving with much consideration at the moment – and there probably isn’t much genuine laughter in Ruth’s life.

But I really believe she’ll have the last laugh.

Even as he dives headfirst into this exciting new chapter in his life, Ruth does the smart thing.

She acts her age and uses this life experience to calmly and slowly look to the future with her strong, long-time friends and family whom she loves and supports her.

They say there’s no fool like an old fool and I don’t think there are any words that better describe Eamonn Holmes.

Lottie is so stupid she plays with death

I APPLAUD Lottie Moss for her honesty.

But I find it hard to believe how stupid she was.

The model bought a “slimming shot” from a “friend”, injected herself with a large dose, ended up in hospital and had a seizure.

She took Semaglutide, a drug marketed as Wegovy, approved to treat obesity, and Ozempic to control blood sugar in type 2 diabetics.

It mimics the actions of a hormone to tell the pancreas to produce more insulin and makes you feel full.

Lottie, who looks like a sparrow, took a dose of Ozempic “meant for someone twice her weight.”

If she had consulted a doctor, she would have known that weight-based dosing is not the method of administration.

It may be the perfect weight loss vaccine for those who need it.

But taking a medicine without even knowing how much to take is madness.

And using drugs from friends or dubious sites is risking death.

Dave did a Kyle

FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl is the latest man to impregnate a woman behind his wife’s back.

He released a statement saying: “I recently became a father to a baby girl, born out of wedlock. I love my wife and children and am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”

Clearly, he didn’t love his wife, Jordyn Blum, to whom he had been married for 21 years, enough to honor his marriage vows.

But if he wants some advice on getting back in the family’s good graces, he could do worse than contact Kyle Walker, who miraculously managed to get back into the family home.

He and his wife Annie apparently really want to “make it work.”

But since Kyle started dating Annie, he’s had two kids with Lauryn Goodman, exposed himself at a bar and kissed another woman, partied with two sex workers during Covid, texted a Playboy model and had fun in his car with reality TV star Laura Brown.

If I were Annie, I would have already told her where to go.

But I wish them luck, they will need it.

Prison Farce

While Stuart Bennett strutted around like he was playing Vicky Pollard’s boyfriend in Little Britain, it could have been comical.

With his Reebok sneakers, his Ralph Lauren tracksuit and his JD Sports bag full of belongings, he was sniggering from ear to ear.

Bennett is one of 1,700 criminals who have been released early by the Labour Party to ease prison overcrowding.

These included shoplifters, burglars, drug dealers and domestic violence perpetrators.

Bennett is a serial thief.

What a shame that he makes a mockery of justice.

And how terrifying it is for all of us.

The right kind of people

On Tuesday, rocker Jon Bon Jovi helped convince a woman not to jump off a bridge in Nashville, Tennessee, saving her life.

The same day, Ben, the London taxi driver, took me in his taxi to Euston station and refused any payment.

When it comes to acts of kindness, the star obviously wins, but Ben’s gesture reminded me of the expression “one good deed deserves another” and made me feel kinder this week.

I was late for my train when I hailed a cab and Ben stopped.

We started talking and he told me he would give me a free ride since he was going that way anyway.

Ben explained that he sometimes likes to give people a free ride because many people are nice and tip taxi drivers.

Thank you Ben, you have brightened my week – and therefore the week of those around me.

Jodie is no joke

Poor Jodie Marsh complained that her local council was being cruel and unfair to her by refusing her a permit to keep lemurs in her wildlife sanctuary, for dangerous wild animals.

The 45-year-old former pin-up has appealed the decision, saying: “I feel the council has it in for me. I have plenty of evidence of that.”

But the council claims it refused the licence because Jodie considered the 250 animals she keeps at Fripps Farm, near Great Dunmow, Essex, to be pets.

It all goes back to allegations that she twice took a MEERKAT to the PUB.

I bet everyone in his constituency breathed a sigh of relief when they heard the latest decision.
