Student found in possession of gun at Bryan High School

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A Bryan High School student was taken into custody Wednesday morning after a gun was found in the student’s backpack.

That’s according to a recorded message the school principal sent to parents shortly after the incident, which KBTX obtained.

“A student was in possession of a weapon on campus, at school, and with administrators, and the Bryan Police Department School Resource Officer responded immediately. The situation was quickly addressed and an investigation was initiated. No threats were made against the school. However, we discovered during the investigation that the student had a weapon in his backpack while in class. The student was immediately taken away and arrested,” Principal Lane Buban said in a voicemail.

The post did not specify what class the student was in or who made the discovery. There is no additional information on the type of weapon that was found and details that could identify the student have not been shared.
