A car caught fire near CMU

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – A car was surrounded by black smoke as flames shot from inside.

The occupants of the car tried to put out the flames. The car was blocking eastbound traffic. The fire occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the corner of 12th Street and Orchard Avenue.

The Grand Junction Police Department and Fire Department were called to help control the fire.

Fire officials said one person received medical treatment at the scene.

“The fire was quickly extinguished and one person was medically evaluated before refusing transport to a hospital,” the GJFD said.

No information has been given on how the fire started.
