Eli Manning gives Daniel Jones sage advice after Giants’ slow start to season

The New York Giants have lost each of their first two games of the season, and quarterback Daniel Jones hasn’t inspired confidence with his performance, especially in Week 1.

After throwing two interceptions in his first game back from his ACL injury last year, Jones improved in Week 2, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Washington Commanders.

With a big game looming in Week 3, Jones received some words of wisdom from Eli Manning, who spoke with Sports Illustrated Claudette Montana on behalf of King’s Hawaiian Soft Preztel Bites.

“Watch your mechanics, trust the system, go back and let go,” Manning advised Jones. “In this league, you can’t be afraid to make mistakes. They happen. There’s going to be certain scenarios where things aren’t clear, don’t throw. But if you have somebody open on your first read, you’ve got to let go.”

Jones has been heavily criticized in the first two weeks of the campaign, with some even calling for the Giants to bench the 27-year-old. Manning can certainly understand the pressure and constant scrutiny that comes with playing quarterback in New York, having done so for 16 seasons during his career.

Manning, along with the rest of the fans, is hoping the team can turn things around with Jones under center when they face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
