Ranking The Perfect Couple Characters From Worst To Worst

Spoilers below for The perfect coupleso be warned if you haven’t watched it yet!

Whether or not The perfect couple is considered one of the The best Netflix series That’s for history to decide, but considering he’s remained a top player in the streaming giant’s Top 10, his popularity can’t be denied. But I have a feeling the millions of presumed viewers wouldn’t deny the idea that the wealth-obsessed characters populating this highly worthy mystery thriller are some of the worst in history, either. TV Schedule 2024.

The cast, led by such A-list talent as Nicole Kidman, Liev Schrieber, Dakota Fanning and many more, brings all these alcoholic, greedy, stupid and desperate bastards to life with aplomb, and Critics agree that it is a rather enjoyable adaptation.even though we gradually come to despise almost everyone on screen. And so rather than just talking shit about everyone who showed up at Amelia and Benji’s wedding, let’s celebrate their awfulness by ranking the main group from worst to ABSOLUTE WORST. But first…

Best: Chief Carter and Detective Henry

Handcuffs down, what i liked most about The perfect couple The best characters in the film are Michael Beach, the police chief, and Donna Lynne Champlin, the budding detective. They are quite good solos, even though Detective Henry didn’t get much story development, but they really shine as a duo in the office and in the interrogation room. Such is the importance of getting the chemistry between the actors right.

And now let’s move on to the worst characters in the Netflix original series, starting with the most sympathetic presence.

14. Karen Sacks

Honestly, I didn’t include Bruce Sacks, played by Michael McGrady, on this list because he’s basically maintained his “supportive father and husband” presence without much influence. But Karen, played by Dendrie Taylor, is among the worst people forgivable for bringing suicide pills to a wedding that was moved up specifically for her. I understand the intentions, mind you, but they still give off way too much of a glass-half-empty vibe, on top of being a means to murder.

13. Chloe Carter

Overall, Chloe Carter, the teenage girl who works at Mia Isaac’s restaurant, is a solid character, and is perhaps even more likable than her father, the police chief. However, Chloe couldn’t help but lose coolness points for continuing to be friendly with Will despite his poor decisions and generally chaotic aura. When she agreed to go on the boat with him, it almost sank immediately due to my utter disbelief weighing it down.

12. Broderick Graham

If Broderick Graham had actually been the disruptive, gangster-like menace he was perceived to be for most of the season, he might have been a pure highlight. But instead, he turned out to be a rotten gambling addict taking advantage of his rich sister’s money after being her pimp. Not the greatest of accolades. Still, Tommy Flanagan is inherently a badass, and I can hardly blame him for taking advantage of the Winburys’ bank account.

11. Merritt Monaco

In some ways, Meaghann Fey’s Merritt was The perfect coupleThe ideal version of a party girl was her charisma and easy-going nature. But while Amelia couldn’t help but see and describe Merritt as a near-virgin princess, the clandestine relationship with Tag and subsequent pregnancy serve as evidence that she may not have the best instincts on all fronts. Not to fall back into victim blaming here, but she essentially brought about her own death with this mega-terrible life choice. And it’s like, why? Tag sucks.

10. Will Winbury

To be lenient with Will right away, it probably sucks to be the maligned youngest child in a family like the Winburys, where the father doesn’t exactly hide his disdain. But I’m not convinced that Will actually makes good decisions in the episodes of The perfect coupleand he remembers several terrible things he did. Not the least of which was nearly killing himself and Chloe.

9. Abby Winbury

You’d think the rightful culprit in this series would definitely be one of the worst characters, but despite Dakota Fanning’s obsession with maintaining her financial status and other undesirable attributes, she was one of the first characters, outside of Bejni and Merrill, to treat Amelia like a different person. So there’s humanity somewhere beneath the murder plots, the ignorance of infidelity, etc.

8. Benji Winbury

A golden boy in his mother’s eyes (and I hope that’s the only one), Benji, played by Billy Howle, should have been an ideal future groom, but he was in fact just a slightly charming little pile of mashed potatoes. At no point did I understand Amelia’s reasoning for choosing him for life… oh wait, maybe it was about money… Either way, Benji easily wins the title of Skeeziest Red Herring for having and hiding those photos of Merrill.

7. Isabel Nallet

I loved Isabelle Adjani’s chaotic family friend as much as anyone else in this series, but in terms of actually being a friend to that family or anyone else, Isabel doesn’t really hold up. Someone else would hold her anyway, such is her occasional wealth. She has a heart that knows where the right place is, but perhaps only after she’s committed a vice or two that could break up the marriage.

6. Shooter Dival

Shooter Dival’s seemingly super-rich character, played by Ishaan Khatter, remains a largely unexplored character, defined in large part by his actions. These actions include trying to escape the island, trying to seduce his best friend’s wife, having a strange relationship with Greer, etc. All of this might have been more forgivable if his subcutaneous infatuation with Amelia hadn’t been based on a completely forgettable moment on a train that he clung to for several years. Did Shooter have any great qualities?

5. Amelia Sacks

As a marginally identifiable protagonist at the heart of The perfect coupleAmelia, played by Eve Hewson, is the sort of person who is clearly unhappy with most or all aspects of her life, but has remained stuck in such a rut until she is shocked out of it by Merrill’s death. She gets major points for touching Greer with her body positivity and social skills, but I’d rather see her happy in her element with a like-minded ensemble cast of characters. It’s not a cool decision to screw a boring guy and doom her best friend, Amelia.

4. Gosia

Gosia, played by Irina Dubova, doesn’t get much character development in her recurring role as the Winburys’ governess, but it doesn’t take much to acknowledge the bad vibes she gives off with every critical glance and snide comment. She showcases every bad attribute of the rich on this show, regardless of her professional position. Gosia doesn’t have much love for the poor and wants everyone to know it.

3. Tag Winbury

To list the only living women in The perfect couple that Tag Winbury didn’t have sex with, or at least didn’t try to, can be limited to Amelia’s mother and Detective Henry. (We didn’t get to see much of Henry’s private life, though.) And God only knows how many other women he professed his undying love to beyond Greer and Merritt.

For all the charisma he might have beneath his addictive tendencies, it’s all ruined by the bad reputation he gives to horny rich stoners. Plus, the way he disrupted Greer’s book reading was one of the most embarrassing displays of drunkenness I can imagine, even without the terrible singing.

2. Thomas Winbury

For someone whose screen time is pretty limited compared to the other main characters, Thomas, played by Jack Reynor, uses every second to remind everyone that he is an immoral person. Whether he is intentionally causing trouble among his parents and siblings, cheating on his wife, or not being financially responsible with the woman he is cheating on him with, Thomas is a blatant jerk.

The cherry on top, of course, is his extremely dangerous habit of stealing other people’s medications. The fact that he’s so casual and unapologetic about it makes the act even more disgusting. It would have been nice to see him suffer badly for taking the wrong medication at one point.

1. Greer Garrison Winbury

The perfect coupleThe show’s queen bee also happens to be the one with the most appalling behavior and personality on the show, with Nicole Kidman’s Greer Garrison Winbury taking the crown for the show’s worst character. And her abomination is made all the more effective by every cruel look and unjustified anger that Kidman delivers with such gusto.

As a viewer, I feel like I should be rooting for Greer, since she’s a former sex worker who used her talents to fund a side career as a wildly popular author. Instead, her entire literary output is based on bullshit, and she continues to reap the rewards without seeming to give her fans any genuine love. But her vilest sin was undoubtedly trying to join Tag in his drunken tweeting during her failed book launch. That scene will forever be etched in my memory as platinum-plated cringe.

Whether you agree with me or not, dear readers, I think we can all agree that if a season 2 were ever produced for those with a Netflix subscription, we would all go back to the interrogation room glass to see more of these terrible people.
