Student, school bus driver and bus monitor injured in crash on Briley Pkwy.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Metro Nashville Police Department emergency personnel and officers responded to a crash involving a school bus in West Nashville Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on Briley Pkwy South near Centennial Blvd.

A spokesperson for Metro Nashville Public Schools confirmed that three Hillsboro High School students were aboard the school bus when the driver crashed into the center wall on Briley Pkwy. According to MNPS, one student was injured and taken to Monroe Carell Jr. for evaluation. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt transported.

The school bus driver and monitor suffered injuries in the crash and required treatment, MNPS said. They were also both transported to hospital.

All southbound lanes of Briley Pkwy. were shut down to allow emergency services to treat the injured driver and cleanup crews to remove the wreckage. Motorists are being diverted off the highway at Centennial Blvd. but traffic is backed up to Clarksville Pike, so commuters are urged to find alternate routes.
