Raheem Morris’ honest message to Andy Reid after Falcons’ loss to Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated. Patrick Mahomes and the reigning Super Bowl champions passed their Week 3 test against the Atlanta Falcons, winning 22-17 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. After the game, Atlanta head coach Raheem Morris met with Chiefs mentor Andy Reid on the field, with the former showing great respect for the latter’s coaching abilities.

“You’re hard to deal with,” Morris told Reid.

Although the Chiefs are undefeated so far, their three wins so far this season have all been decided in the deciding moments. The Falcons had chances to take the lead in the fourth quarter, but they squandered both opportunities by turning over the ball.

With less than three minutes left in the fourth quarter and the Chiefs up by just five points, the Falcons were able to reach the Kansas City 13-yard line. However, Atlanta was unable to get another set of downs or score a touchdown when running back Bijan Robinson was brought down by Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton on a fourth-and-1 situation.

Those defensive stops by the Chiefs in crucial moments of the fourth period can be attributed to Kansas City defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, but at the end of the day, the Chiefs are an Andy Reid team.

The Falcons entered Week 3 feeling confident about their chances of beating the Chiefs. They were coming off a comeback win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2, and Kansas City hadn’t looked overly potent in its first two games of the season. But one thing about Kansas City is that they find a way to win even when they’re not at their best, and Morris and the Falcons got to see that on Sunday.

Kirk Cousins completed 20 of 29 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown with an interception against the Chiefs. Atlanta’s running game didn’t have much to offer outside of Robinson’s second-quarter scoring run, as the Falcons rushed for just 82 yards on 25 carries (3.3 yards per attempt).

The Falcons (2-1) will next face the New Orleans Saints at home in Week 4.
