Dave Mason cancels 2024 tour due to serious heart condition

Dave Mason has canceled the remainder of his 2024 tour after a “serious heart condition” was detected during a routine appointment. The discovery requires “immediate medical attention,” according to a statement.

The guitarist and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer was next scheduled to perform in Santa Barbara, California, followed by a few dates in October and November. Despite the cancellation, Mason’s medical team anticipates a full and successful recovery for the artist.

“I’m sorry to have to cancel these dates, but it’s doctor’s orders,” he said. “I’ll be back, and better than ever, in 2025.”

Mason, 78, has built a solid reputation as a dedicated touring artist, still performing more than 100 concerts a year. This spring, he appeared as a special guest on tour with the Beach Boys. Earlier this month, the Traffic founding member released a memoir, Only you and I know. Get a copy here.
