Fortnite unveils trailer for new UEFN map in collaboration with Topgolf

“Fortnite” continues to expand into a new market, as the popular battle royale game makes its way to the Topgolf game with an all-new map and a host of mini-games. The new map features a collaboration with the popular golf driving range that has captivated fans in the United States.

Depending on the location, Topgolf offers games such as “Topgolf,” which is the standard game that challenges players to hit targets and accumulate bonus multipliers, “Quick 90” which challenges players to hit their ball as close as possible to colored targets on the course, and “Topdrive,” which challenges players to see who can hit the ball the farthest on the course.

Despite the collaboration between “Fortnite” and Topgolf, the games offered on the video game are a little different from what’s offered on driving ranges across the country.

According to the trailer above, “Fortnite” players will be able to race against each other in golf carts in the mini-game “Topgolf Speedway,” “Whack-a-ball,” which is a variation of “Whack-a-Mole,” and “Topgolf World Tour,” which will feature recreations of locations in Santa Monica, Bangkok, Dubai, and Las Vegas.

“Fortnite” continues to expand its creative market by allowing “creators” to use the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) engine to create entirely new ways to evolve the battle royale.

According to a statement from the “Fortnite” website on UEFN, “Unreal Editor for Fortnite (“UEFN”) is an Epic creation tool that allows content creators (each, a “Creator”) to create, develop, modify or contribute user-generated content in Fortnite (“UEFN Content”) and to upload, publish or otherwise make available UEFN Content to some or all users of the Services (as that term is defined in the Fortnite End User License Agreement (the “Fortnite EULA”)).”

The collaboration between “Fortnite” and Topgolf was made possible by Zoned (an agency under the banner of GameSquare Holdings) as part of a deal with Topgolf. Moonlight Studios, a subsidiary of Zoned, built the map for Zoned.

According to Zoned President Carlos Tovar, via Sports Business Journal, “We’ve been working behind the scenes with gamers and gaming companies for a few years now, and it’s been a culmination of relationships and trust that our friends at Zoned have been able to authentically bring our brand into the world of Fortnite and create something truly special,” said Geoff Cottrill, Topgolf’s chief brand officer. He also said that Topgolf has “no plans at this time” to integrate the Fortnite map into its venues. As of now, no other brands outside of Topgolf are part of this map — no clubs, balls, or other branded equipment are part of it.”

Time will tell if Topgolf plans to integrate some sort of “Fortnite” mode into the multiple locations around the world, but fans can at least get a small taste of Topgolf in their favorite battle royale.

“Fortnite” is available on macOS, Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Android, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
