Prince Harry, currently in New York, took to the stage at the Princess Diana Awards to share a powerful message.

Without his wife Meghan Markle, the Duke of Sussex will attend Concordia’s 14th annual summit in support of the Diana Prize.

Harry addressed the audience: “I congratulate you for having the confidence to step up on that stage. I know my mother would be incredibly proud of you.”

He added: “Your activism is true to how my mother lived her life.”

The Duke also spoke of his reasons for being “hopeful” for the future.

“I said it years ago and I’ll say it again,” he added, “it’s the younger generation that gives me hope. Your courage gives me hope.”

“Every one of us needs courage to make a difference in this world, probably more than ever,” the father of two said.

He said: “We must listen and act on what you say because it is your future that will be stolen and that is unacceptable.”

Joining him on stage were Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang of Indonesia and Christina Williams of Jamaica, who received the Legacy Award in honour of Diana, Princess of Wales.

On Sunday, Harry traveled to New York and attended a World Health Organization dinner.
