Halloween Glen, Milwaukee Recreation’s fun and educational alternative to the usual haunted house, returns for its 31st year. This family-friendly event encourages youth to learn about nature in the outdoor setting of Hawthorn Glen, Milwaukee Recreation’s 23-acre nature center located at 1130 N. 60th St. The program will run every 30 minutes from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 4 and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 5.

Comedians will perform interactive and educational skits at eight decorated stations along the Hawthorn Glen Trail. This year’s theme is Myths and Mysteries. After the hike, families are invited to participate in a variety of fall-themed activities. Concessions will also be available on site.

“Halloween Glen is one of our most anticipated events of the year,” said Nicole Sponholtz, Recreation Manager. “This event is extremely special to us and we are excited to welcome the community to Hawthorn Glen for two nights of family-friendly Halloween fun.”

Registration for the event is required in advance by completing the online registration form available at mkerec.net/HalloweenGlen. Online registration will close at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5.

All registrants must register with MPS Central Services (5225 W. Vliet St) prior to the start of their scheduled hike and shuttles will transport participants to Hawthorn Glen. There will be no parking, no walk-in registrations, and no check-in at Hawthorn Glen. The only way for guests to arrive at Hawthorn Glen is by shuttle, which will run continuously throughout the night. Early registration is recommended for this event as spaces can fill up quickly. For registration questions or additional information, please call (414) 647-6050 or visit mkerec.net/HalloweenGlen.
