Thousands of car fans will gather in Chesterfield Township this weekend for the 2024 North Gratiot Cruise.

This year’s event will take place Saturday in the parking lot across from Kohl’s and Value City Furniture on Gratiot Avenue, just north of Cotton Road. In addition to the cruise and car show, there will also be a craft fair, a 5K run, a cornhole tournament and more.

“Get ready for one of the largest events in the county,” organizers said in a social media post Sept. 18. “Last year we had over 6,000 attendees.”

Cruise hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A car parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. Cruise registration is $30 per vehicle.

Scoring is done by impartial judges in the following five areas: body, engine, interior, paint and wheels. Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. Prizes include $1,000 for best in show, $300 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place.

The second annual craft fair will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Value City Furniture.

The Chesterfield 5K will start at 9 a.m. from the cruise headquarters. A total of $1,700 in prizes is up for grabs. This year’s race is sponsored by the New Baltimore Lions Club and is expected to be the largest ever. It also includes a 1K walk.
