Broward man arrested with more than 100 records of child sex abuse, deputies say

OAKLAND PARK, Florida. – Google’s discovery of child sexual abuse images on an account belonging to an Oakland Park man led to his arrest Thursday, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Jeremy David Alexandre Jean, 33, now faces 11 charges.

According to a BSO arrest report, the investigation into Jean began in April after the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the discovery of Google.

Google reported that Jean had uploaded a collage of lewd photos of a 10-year-old girl to his Google Drive account, the report said.

Deputies said Jean, who was born in France, used the online handle “Captain Hook,” the French name for the “Peter Pan” character Captain Hook.

Authorities said they would later find “more than 100 files” of child sexual abuse material in his Google Drive account, all depicting girls between the ages of 8 and 12. .”

The report said authorities also found a screen recording of a non-illicit WhatsApp video call between Jean and a woman.

Deputies said this established he owned the account and Jean’s wife confirmed his identity in the video. Additionally, they said his cell phone name was also “Captain Hook.”

Authorities said they seized other electronic devices from Jean’s Pinehurst Trail home and were examining them.

As of Friday, Jean was being held in BSO Main Jail on $110,000 bail.
