Coronation Street star explains Sarah’s outburst at Daniel

Coronation Street Star Tina O’Brien explained her character Sarah Barlow’s decision to turn on Daniel Osbourne this week.

Sarah has been going through an emotional period following the revelation that Bethany is seriously ill in a Turkish hospital due to a liposuction procedure gone wrong.

Sarah and Daniel – Bethany’s boyfriend – both flew to Turkey following the worrying news as they desperately searched for answers about what was happening.

Things quickly turned sour when Sarah discovered Daniel had initially ignored calls from a Turkish phone number because he was busy having a heart-to-heart with his ex-fiancée Daisy Midgeley.

Sarah pointed out that Bethany’s insecurities around Daniel and Daisy may have played a role in her decision to have cosmetic surgery, so she blamed Daniel and ordered him to return home to Weatherfield.

Speaking about Sarah’s outburst, Tina admitted: “I think she’s lashing out. She’s really angry and thinks there’s potentially something going on between him and Daisy, because she heard some things but can’t get to the bottom of it.

“She’s angry with Daniel, but I don’t think she would ever hold him responsible for Bethany’s choice to have liposuction, because at the end of the day, Bethany is a grown woman and she makes her own decisions.”

When asked if Sarah liked Bethany and Daniel together, Tina replied: “No, I don’t think she likes them together.

“I think Sarah holds her tongue a lot, even from the beginning, because Daniel ended up with Bethany around the time his partner Sinead died, and he clearly wasn’t over her and left Bethany in a poor condition.

“I think she always had reservations about him.”

Bethany’s story continues in Friday’s (September 27) episode as Sarah finds Bethany in bad shape in her hospital bed, barely able to breathe.

Back at his home in Weatherfield, Daniel tells Daisy about a crowdfunding page to help pay for Bethany’s £25,000 medical costs.
