Jordan Chiles’ legal team appeals IOC decision following release of documentary footage

Jordan Chiles and her legal team are apparently not backing down in their fight to prove she deserves her 2024 Olympic bronze medal.

In light of new evidence, his team has reportedly filed a new petition with the Swiss Federal Court to challenge the decision that cost him an Olympic bronze medal.

The latest filing asks Switzerland’s Federal Supreme Court to reopen Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) proceedings and further examine crucial evidence that Chiles’ lawyers say “He hasn’t considered it before.” CAS is based in Switzerland.

In their filing, they claimed the new documentary contained video and audio recordings proving Chiles’ case.

“The evidence in question – footage from a documentary crew recording the women’s gymnastics floor finals – proves that the CAS’s earlier decision was based on a critical factual error that was compounded by the fact that the CAS granted Chiles less than a day to prepare for his hearing. “, Chiles’ lawyers said in a statement sent to CNN on Tuesday, September 27.

“CAS stripped Chiles of the bronze medal based on its conclusion that Chiles’ coach was four seconds late in his verbal request to correct Chiles’ score, but the new evidence clearly shows that the investigation was done on time.”(

USA Gymnastics follows up on Jordan Chiles’ legal request with its own filing

On Tuesday, USA Gymnastics (USAG) filed its own brief to reopen the CAS bronze medal award.

USAG also cited the footage as “conclusive proof that coach Cécile Landi filed an investigation into Jordan Chiles’ score well within the minute required by FIG rules.”

“The audiovisual evidence that CAS refused to consider clearly proves that Jordan’s bronze medal in Paris was correct,” »said USAG in its press release.

“With today’s filing, we simply request that the CAS arbitration be decided based on a true and accurate understanding of the facts. As Jordan has publicly stated, the matter at this point is about his peace and justice, and the right of all athletes to be treated fairly. We all continue to demand justice for Jordan.
