Five Finger Death Cancel Show with Metallica after singer’s injury

You know what sucks? Having to not do something that you love, that you really want to do. Especially when this thing goes on to play with one of the most influential metal bands of all time. Unfortunately, that’s what happened to Ivan Moody and his band Five Finger Death Punch. (It’s not like it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity…probably).

FFDP was supposed to appear as Metallica’s opening act at their Mexico City concert today, September 29, but it was revealed on Saturday that they had to cancel due to Moody’s injuries. The Agora group intervened and replaced them.

As if enough shit hasn’t happened due to the weather at the Louder Than Life festival this week, Moody fractured a rib slipping on stage while performing “IOU” at the festival on Thursday, September 26. continued to perform, but regularly gave updates via Instagram Stories on how he was feeling after the show.

First, he said he had “a bruise that stretched from the inside of my armpit to the side of my knee” and that his hand felt “like it was broken.”

Then, after going to the hospital, Moody said he had a “fucking fractured rib”, adding disappointingly: “You’ve got to be kidding me.” It’s always something, man. Well, I will say this: it was worth it. Stronger than life. For real, for real. »

Metallica shared the news of the cancellation via social media on Saturday, expressing their disappointment in Moody and their appreciation for Agora.

“Tomorrow we finish this incredible second year of the M72 tour with the final show in Mexico City. Unfortunately, Five Finger Death Punch, our tour companions for the past two years, will not be there due to injury. We are so sorry to hear about Ivan’s accident and are sending him lots of love and good vibes for a speedy recovery.

“Joining us will be Agora, who are no strangers to the local and international festival circuit having played with Guns N’ Roses, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Kiss, to name a few. With over twenty years of recording and touring under their belt, we’re excited to see them take to the circular stage for the first time tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. Our friends Ice Nine Kills will follow, just before our set.

“A huge thank you to AGORA for its commitment. »

FFDP also announced the news on its social networks, sharing with it a video of the oopsy filmed by fans.

“At the Louder Than Life festival last Thursday, Ivan Moody fell and broke his rib during the song ‘IOU’ – while the rain was pouring down and despite the fall, Ivan was able to finish the set. As a result, we will not be able to play the show with Metallica in Mexico tomorrow night.

“We would like to thank Metallica for accompanying us on this incredible journey over the past two years and also express our sincere apologies to the fans in Mexico City for any inconvenience.

“I wish our brother Ivan Moody a speedy recovery.”
