  • Land Rover has introduced the first special edition Range Rover designed for India.
  • The Ranthambore Edition is a product of the tiger-inspired SV Bespoke division.
  • The company will only manufacture 12 units of the SUV, with unique colors and styling cues.

The “magnificent tiger” is the national animal of India, home to 70% of the world’s population. The big cats inspired JLR to create India’s first special edition Range Rover, with production limited to 12 units.

The Range Rover SV Ranthambore Edition is named after the Ranthambore National Park, which plays an important role in the preservation of tigers. The model is a product of Range Rover’s SV Bespoke division and is based on the long wheelbase body.

The exterior is painted in a bespoke deep black shade, with a “rich red shimmer effect”. This is combined with Corinthian Bronze accents (grille, bumpers, side vents, mirror caps, tailgate and badges) and some anthracite inserts, designed to resemble the stripes of a tiger.

The special Range Rover rides on a cool set of 23-inch forged alloy wheels finished in Dark Gray with Corinthian Bronze inserts.

The interior tastefully combines Carvi and light Perlino semi-aniline leather, with light linear wenge veneers, chrome jewel finishes and white ceramic dials. The SV Bespoke division also added custom cushions on the rear seats bearing the special edition name, as well as unique embroidery on the backrests.

Another cool touch is the electric club table for the rear passengers with deployable cup holders and a small refrigerator with SV etched glassware. Finally, the numbered “Ranthambore Edition” rocker panels show that your tiger-inspired Range Rover is one of twelve units.

Under the hood is the Range Rover Autobiography’s 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine, generating 393 hp (293 kW / 398 hp) and 550 Nm (405.6 lb-ft) of torque.

Land Rover has not announced the price of the Range Rover SV Ranthambore Edition, but has pledged to donate a portion of the profits to the Wildlife Conservation Trust of India.
