18-wheeler catches fire, causing road blockage in Marshall County

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Guntersville Police Department (GPD) said an 18-wheeler that caught fire was blocking traffic Monday afternoon.

According to GPD, the 18-wheeler struck a guardrail and burst into flames on Highway 79 near Pine Island Circle.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. and blocked all lanes of AL-79 indefinitely.

ALEA said Troopers with the Highway Patrol Division will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
