The Orillia Museum of Art and History (OMAH) is pleased to announce the opening of four new exhibitions this fall, highlighted by a special reception on Saturday, October 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Teachers and their lasting impact: the legacy of José Salas

On display until January 11, 2025

This exhibit honors influential artist and educator José M. Salas, who inspired countless students during his tenure at Park Street Collegiate Institute. Featuring the works of ten artists whose lives he touched, it reflects their individual journeys shaped by his positive mentorship.

Artists featured: Holly Atkinson, Neville Clarke, Tanya Cunnington, Philip Hare, David Hawke, Juliana Hawke, Meg Leslie, Terez Mull, José Salas, Bewabon Shilling, Margie Vinkle-Morano

Orillia yesterday and today

October 6, 2024 to May 3, 2025

This captivating exhibition juxtaposes historic photographs of iconic Orillia sites with current images by Samantha Vessios, highlighting Orillia’s evolution and putting its history in context.

Owl Pen revisited: a solo exhibition by Gillian Lowry

From September 28, 2024 to January 18, 2025

Inspired by Lucille Oille’s relief prints of The Owl Pen, this exhibition explores rural landscapes and their personal meaning, inviting viewers to reflect on the connection between art and place.

Tradition transformed

October 26, 2024 – January 18, 2025

This juried exhibition, now in its 23rd year, invites artists from across the country to reinterpret the Canadian landscape amid contemporary challenges. Inspired by the legacy of Group of Seven member and Orillia native Franklin Carmichael, this exhibition showcases diverse artistic expressions.

The Stack Gallery, Orillia Recreation Center

Continues until December 2024

This exhibition, created in partnership with the City of Orillia, features local artists interpreting the theme of inclusion, sparking reflection on equal access and community engagement.

OMAH is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
