Vice presidential candidate Tim Walz apparently wore a Taylor Swift-inspired friendship bracelet for his debate against JD Vance.

  • LEARN MORE: Pop is not a bad word: Taylor Swift has finally become political. What took him so long?

The Democratic candidate faced Republican candidate JD Vance, where viewers spotted a friendship bracelet under the cuff of Walz’s right sleeve. There were at least two bracelets, which have since been popularized by Swifties thanks to the track “You’re On Your Own, Kid” from the 2022 album “Midnights.”

The song contains the lyrics “so, make the friendship bracelets / take the moment and taste it” in his bridge.

On Tuesday, October 1, Walz could be seen wearing a red and white bracelet, as well as a blue beaded bracelet underneath. It is not yet clear what messages appear on the accessories.

Walz then cited the popstar in the debate as a supporter of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, who Swift supported last September: “She fights for rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to defend them.”

Taylor Swift’s relationship with politics previously came under scrutiny when it was revealed that she regretted not speaking out against Donald Trump in the 2016 election.

The singer made the revelation in the 2020 documentary Miss American, where she admitted “I’m sad I didn’t say it two years ago” instead of speaking out before the 2018 midterm elections.

When warned that Trump himself might take revenge, Swift responded in the documentary: “Fuck. I don’t care.”

Since then, Swift has endorsed Harris for the 2024 election, sparking a “500%” increase in voter registrations.

Meanwhile, Trump himself reacted to the endorsement, saying the singer could “pay the price”: “It was just a matter of time.” She couldn’t support Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She still seems to support a Democrat and she will probably pay the price for it in the market.”

Trump then proclaimed, “I hate Taylor Swift” on his Truth Social account.

He previously falsely claimed the singer supported him with an AI-generated photo, to which fans reacted: “Taylor Swift will sue him so fast he’ll remember why his last name is fast.”

Separately, a man spent $4,000 at an auction to buy and destroy a Taylor Swift signed guitar.
