CrimeStoppers of Central Alabama Offers $1,000 Reward for Tip Who Helped Dothan Police in Two Murder Cases

CrimeStoppers of Central Alabama Offers ,000 Reward for Tip Who Helped Dothan Police in Two Murder Cases

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – An anonymous tipster received a $1,000 reward from Central Alabama Crimestoppers for information that helped Dothan police with two murder cases.

“The program works,” said Tony Garrett, executive director of Central Alabama Crimestoppers.

“We’re always looking for a way to help the community help us,” said Lt. Scott Owens of the Dothan Police Department.

Central Alabama Crimestoppers is working with Dothan Police to fight crime and the results are already visible.

Garrett said it shows people can’t stand crime in their neighborhood.

“This shows that the community is ready to become crime free and this is just a small example of better things in the future,” Garrett said.

Lt. Scott Owens said the witness’ information helped police in their investigation into the 2020 murders of Christina Moore, 50, and Imari Glanton, 24, in 2021.

Police charged Ty’Shauwn Bryant in connection with both of their deaths. Bryant recently pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter in both cases.

Owens said even though this anonymous tip came later in the investigation, it strengthened their case.

“The testimony of the witnesses really turned the case around, to the point where it made a very strong case,” Owens said. “That’s really what testimonies are about when people in the neighborhood know what’s going on and when they give us information, it can take a little bit of a fringe case and make it a really strong case.”

Both Owens and Garrett say this proves the partnership between Dothan police and Central Alabama Crimestoppers is a positive step in the fight against crime.

“This case already proves that Central Alabama Crimestoppers and its partnership with the Dothan Police Department works. Without the added financial incentive, this witness may not have come forward,” Owens said.

“We know the community is willing and ready to move forward and start putting these people behind bars,” Garrett said.
