OLD MAN’S CHILD (Ex-DIMMU BORGIR) announces its first show in 25 years

The old man’s child – the project carried out by the current elder Dimmu Borgir guitarist and bassist Galder – announced its first show since 2000 for 2025. The old man’s child is set to play Tons Of Rock in Oslo, Norway this June, alongside bands like Emperor, JinjerAnd Mighty Wolf.

Galder to leave Dimmu Borgir in August of this year after playing in the band for 24 years. Galder said at the time that he was considering quitting for a while and was happy to resurrect The old man’s child.

“Yesterday I played my last concert with Dimmu Borgir,” wrote Galder at the time. “After almost 25 years of making music and playing with Dimmu Borgir I decided to leave the group. I’ve been thinking about this for years and as many of you have pointed out, it’s time to The old man’s child to get back on stage and finalize the new album. I wish the rest of the group all the best for the future.”

On the show, Tons Of Rock wrote (translated from Norwegian): “The old man’s child returns to the stage and you see them for the first time at Tons of Rock. We are delighted to announce the long-awaited return of The old man’s childthe legendary Norwegian melodic black metal band, for their first live performance in over 15 years.

“This historic event marks a monumental occasion for metal fans around the world as the band takes the stage to deliver an unforgettable performance. The old man’s childfounded in 1993 by Galderhas long been a pillar of the black metal community. From 1996, The old man’s child has had a devoted global fan base and the group has become a credible group to be reckoned with. Despite Galderthe involvement of as a guitarist for Dimmu Borgir since 2001, he has continuously treated The old man’s child.

“The band awoke from its hibernation in the fall of 2024, which makes this reunion at Tons of Rock even more meaningful. This performance will be a defining moment, and we can expect a powerful setlist that showcases the band’s unique blend of melodic and brutal black metal.
