A fatal crash has closed I-81 in Dauphin County

A portion of Interstate 81 is closed after a four-vehicle crash that left one person dead overnight on Interstate 81 in Dauphin County.

The northbound lanes and one southbound lane are closed at Exit 80 to Grantville/Hershey, according to PennDOT spokeswoman Fritzi Schreffler.

Schreffler said two tractor-trailers hauling beer and fertilizer were involved in a crash involving two passenger vehicles at mile marker 84.8 about 2:40 a.m.

I-81 is expected to reopen at approximately 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Details about the circumstances of the crash and the identity of the person who died have not been released.
