Anonymous Content Signs ‘Grand Theft Hamlet’ Filmmakers

EXCLUSIVE: Award-winning documentary filmmaker Pinny Gryllsand award-winning filmmaker, video artist and actor Sam Crane have co-signed Anonymous content for representation.

The duo teamed up to direct their feature film debut, Grand theft hamlet, which won the Documentary Grand Jury Award at SXSW this year. The film documents their journey to a live performance Hamlet within Grand Theft Auto, which won a Stage Innovation Award. The film has been nominated for four British Independent Film Awards and will be distributed in cinemas in the UK and US and on Mubi in 2025. In addition, the project won numerous awards, including The Frontier Competition Grand Prize at DMX Docs, the Vancouver International Film Festival Audience Award and Best Documentary at Sitges, and was screened this year at Hot Docs, Vision Du Reel, CPHDox and more.

Deadline’s Damon Wise praised it Grand theft hamlet, “The premise is a winner, and there’s a lot to enjoy as Mark Oosterveen and Sam talk iambic pentameters while bullets fly, planes crash and bazookas unload.”

Grylls started her career as co-founder of Birds Eye View – the first British film festival to celebrate women and non-binary filmmakers. Her short documentary debut was published in 2008 Peter and Ben premiered at IDFA and won awards at festivals such as Aspen, London Short Film Festival and SXSW. Additional documentary credits include Channel 4’s Who do you think you were?from The Guardian Thanks women, BBC/National Theatre The Hour and that of the Royal Opera House Become a Zerlina. Her focus was often on telling behind-the-scenes stories of artists in theater, ballet and opera. In 2024, Grylls won the BFI Chanel Award for creative courage.

Prior to Grand theft hamletCrane released his machinima short film We are the things dreams are made ofwhich received numerous awards including Critics Choice at the Milan Machinima Festival, “Best Video Art” at the Athens Digital Arts Festival, was shortlisted for the Lumen Prize and longlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize. On the theater side, he is an accomplished stage actor known for starring in several West End and Broadway productions, including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Farinell and the King And 1984. As a prolific film actor, his credits include: Napoleon (Apple), The Crown (Netflix), Transatlantic (Netflix), Van der Valk (PBS), The trial of Christine Keeler (BBC), Cobra (Air), Poldark (BBC), Adventure (ITV), and Call the midwife (BBC). He recently completed filming The agreementa six-part drama series for Arte/Les Films Pelleas about the Iran Nuclear Deal.
