Family Recovery Center receives 0,000 grant to reduce substance use | News, sports, jobs

LISBON – Family Recovery Center (FRC) has received $300,000 in grants to support its efforts to reduce substance use disorders by providing needed services. Family Recovery Center CEO Jim Stitt is pleased to introduce a comprehensive initiative aimed at improving existing substance use prevention services in Jefferson and Columbiana counties.

The OneOhio Recovery Foundation grant will enhance existing substance use prevention services in Jefferson and Columbiana counties. FRC programs focus on delivering evidence-based curricula to K-12 students, while also providing targeted interventions for those in need. Their school-based prevention efforts are strengthened by the United Prevention Partnership (UPP), a community prevention coalition with a diverse membership focused on creating change at the community level by implementing environmental strategies. The UPP Coalition is led by Allison Boston, FRC Supervisor and United Prevention Partnership Coalition Coordinator.

Stitt said “We are extremely grateful for this grant, which will significantly enhance our ability to serve our community. This support allows the Family Recovery Center to expand our programs, address urgent needs and promote meaningful change. We are committed to making the most of this opportunity to improve lives and achieve our mission of providing compassionate, high-quality care to those who need it most.”

The grant is part of an initial round of approximately $51 million in funding made available by the foundation as part of its mission to combat the opioid epidemic through prevention, treatment and recovery programs and services in our communities to support. The grant money was funded from 55 percent of the settlement funds Ohio receives from the pharmaceutical industry as a result of its role in the national opioid epidemic.

The grant received by the Family Recovery Center reflects the foundation’s commitment to supporting organizations on the front lines of the addiction epidemic by advancing efforts that promote more resilient, healthier communities across Ohio.

“Across Ohio, organizations like Family Recovery Center are working day in and day out to strengthen their communities impacted by the opioid epidemic,” said Alisha Nelson, executive director of the OneOhio Recovery Foundation.

“We are pleased to partner with Family Recovery Center to support their efforts to save lives, rebuild families affected by addiction, and create strong and resilient places to live,” Nelson said.

The recipients announced as part of the Foundation’s first grant cycle were chosen after a robust review process, including evaluation by the local OneOhio Regional Board, the OneOhio Expert Panel and the Foundation Board of Directors.

Grant recipients have demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing the opioid crisis. The funded initiatives are evidence-based and aligned with Ohio’s approved response strategies, including prevention, recovery support, services for affected families and children, and more.
