Cairo: 30 days of hope

There are approximately 800 children ready for adoption in Virginia. They are ready to find a permanent and loving forever family. 10 News is highlighting one child who needs a home every day during 30 Days of Hope in November. The children are of all ages and races and were placed in foster care through no fault of their own. 2024 marks the eighth year that 10 News has produced this series.

Kairo, who goes by Kai, is a teenager in foster care and is looking forward to finding his forever family to give him a fresh start.

“A family is a family. You can’t really describe a family. Families argue, families become happy and sometimes there is that perfect family. I hope for confidence,” he said.

The 15-year-old is described as funny, respectful and friendly.

“With a family, I would love to go fishing, camping, maybe go to a basketball or football game or even just chill at a house. All I ask is just trust in you, believe in me, and I will believe in you,” Kairo said.

He enjoys listening to music and learning to play the saxophone.

“Oboe is one of my favorite instruments. It sounds so beautiful. He’s bigger than me, he’s bigger than the average person. I want to learn oboe, but it is a bit difficult,” he said.

He loves dogs, walking in nature and sports. Kairo enjoys basketball, golf, fishing and the fast pace of football.

When he grows up, he wants to become a therapist so he can help people and support children in foster care.

Kai is looking for a family that will show him love and support and give him a strong foundation from which to grow. Could you be the family that will believe in Kai and give him hope for a better future?
