Suspect arrested in brutal stabbing on Division Avenue that left young man dead

WASHINGTON, DC – A Northeast D.C. woman has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing that unfolded in broad daylight on Division Avenue in September, fatally wounding a 23-year-old man and injuring another woman.

The incident occurred on September 1 around 2:53 p.m., when a man arrived at the Sixth District Police Station with stab wounds, desperate for help. The victim, identified as Gray Hall, was transported to a nearby hospital by DC Fire and EMS, but was later pronounced dead after all life-saving efforts failed.

Back on Division Avenue, officers found a second victim, an adult female, who had also been stabbed. She was taken to hospital with injuries that were later determined to be non-life-threatening.

After weeks of investigation, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 40-year-old Shameka Jackson of Northeast DC on Wednesday, November 13. According to police, Jackson is now charged with manslaughter while armed.

The arrest marks a significant development in the case, which attracted attention due to the violence of the attack and the death of a young Northeast resident.
