Person fatally shot in northeast Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A person was shot and killed in the Mount Vernon neighborhood of Columbus on Thursday evening.

Columbus police said they responded to the 900 block of Eton Grove on a report of a shooting just before 10:30 p.m.

Multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots and seeing a person lying on the ground.

Officers found the male victim at the scene, who was pronounced dead at 10:38 p.m

No suspects were immediately taken into custody and police say they were unable to obtain a suspect description. They are asking anyone with information to call them at 614-645-4730.

Records show this is the 105th homicide of 2024, and the seventh homicide this month.
