Police said it was around 7:36 p.m. when officers went to Chef King at 5628 Old Shell Road in response to a disorderly conduct call. They confronted Salter, who they said identified himself as a Mobile County sheriff’s deputy.

Officers reported that they then learned that Salter had entered the establishment and within had a brief verbal altercation with a male victim. Police said it was discovered that he attempted to apprehend the victim a short time later but was unsuccessful.

Investigators also said Salter rammed the victim’s vehicle, causing minor damage.

The MPD said Salter is not a law enforcement officer with the MCSO.
