Man from Harlan Co. convicted for role in meth trafficking conspiracy

HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Claria Horn Boom sentenced 41-year-old Steven Wayne Williams of Lynch to 180 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of meth.

According to his plea agreement, in the conspiracy, which lasted from December 2021 to August 31, 2022, Williams was the “point man” for the meth imported from Georgia into Harlan County and other Kentucky counties. He conspired with others to distribute 500 grams or more of meth. One of his co-conspirators was Lawrence Lucas, who was arranged by Willams to travel to Georgia and return with several pounds of the drugs for distribution in Kentucky.

Williams must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence. If he is released, he will be on probation for ten years.

The DEA and KSP conducted the investigation.
