Second disaster recovery center opens at the University of Florida TREEO Center

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – FEMA has established two Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Alachua County to assist individuals affected by Hurricane Helene. You can find detailed information about both facilities, including their opening hours, here.

The FEMA DRCs serve as valuable resources where individuals can obtain comprehensive information about FEMA and other disaster assistance programs. They also provide updates on the status of current or previously denied FEMA applications.

A visit to a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) offers several benefits. You can apply for assistance from FEMA or other relevant programs. The center provides detailed information about the various disaster assistance programs available to you. If you are unsure about the status of your FEMA application, DRC staff can assist you with questions.

Staff can clarify any correspondence you may have received from FEMA to ensure you understand the information provided. If you are looking for housing or rental assistance, the DRC offers relevant resources and information. If you have any questions or concerns regarding disaster recovery, the staff can help you resolve them.

The DRC can also refer you to other agencies that provide additional support, and during your visit you can learn more about the services available through the Small Business Administration (SBA).

Alachua County Emergency Management officials express their gratitude to the City of High Springs Government and the University of Florida for their support in providing facilities and working with FEMA, the Florida Division of Emergency Management and Alachua County to provide these valuable centers to establish.
