TMC councilor escapes assassination attempt in Calcutta

Calcutta: Sushanta Ghosh, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) councilor in the Kasba area of Calcutta, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Friday evening. Two armed assailants approached him outside his home, one of whom attempted to shoot. However, the weapon malfunctioned, resulting in the attack being averted.

Ghosh showed remarkable courage and chased one of the attackers as the duo tried to flee. Local residents joined the chase and were able to arrest one suspect. The individual reportedly confessed during preliminary interrogation that he was hired for the attack, although the identity of the mastermind remains unknown.
