Black Friday deals are here, Bell holiday layoffs (Nov 9-15)

Carriers got an early start to Black Friday deals this week, plus pre-holiday layoffs and more. Here’s the telecom news you need to know:

Prices and offers

Fizz’s early Black Friday deals offer a discounted subscription if you buy a Pixel 9.

Rogers offered $40/100GB and $65/190GB plans to some customers. Later too offered some customers a $60/180GB plan.

Rogers and Fido offered free upgrades to customers with old phones ahead of the closure of the 3G network next year.

Videotron has added 28 more destinations to its $75/45GB international plan.

Rogers offered a $55/120GB 5G migration plan to Fido customers.

Telus offered a $24/60GB 5G migration plan for some Public Mobile customers.

Telus tempted Koodo customers with it $60/150GB and $65/200GB Canada/US/Mexico/Caribbean plans.

Several carriers offer free Pixel 9 phones or deeply discounted Pixel 9 phones.

Rogers has rolled out its Black Friday sale.

Fido launched Black Friday sale.

Chatr has a Black Friday plan of $29/25 GB.

Regulatory

The Big Three responded to the CRTC’s call to reduce roaming rates claim that they already offer affordable roaming. The airlines then promised to introduce measures next year to reduce roaming even further.

Dismissed

Bell employees warned on social media of layoffs ahead of the holidays. Bell said the layoffs are a “continuation” of previous restructurings.
