Man tracks down Homer Simpson’s exact location 30 years after ‘escape to the real world’ in episode – Film & TV

A Simpsons fan has pinpointed Homer’s exact location, thirty years after the iconic episode where he “escapes to the real world.”

The episode – Treehouse of Horror VI – is the sixth episode of season seven and was also part of the Treehouse of Horror Halloween specials.

In the episode, Homer is sent to the real world and ends up in a dumpster Los Angeles.

He walks around looking completely terrified, but then finds an eroticism cake shop and cheers up a bit.

The segment provided a very different feel than the usual look The Simpsons.

Instead of the commonly known 2D format, there is a 3D rendered image of Homer.

The iconic episode was certainly memorable, with one Simpsons fan calls it a “masterpiece” on Reddit.

They wrote, “This entire TOH episode is a masterpiece and one of my all-time favorites: The Time Toaster and this segment, 3D Homer, are the highlights.”

A Simpsons podcast Four Finger Discount has literally taken things a step further and actually tracked down the exact location where Homer makes his ignominious landing.

About thirty years after Homer arrived, the podcaster posed for a photo.

And in case you were wondering, it’s located at Andrew Young 13567 Ventura boulevard, Sherman Oaks, CA.

A quick comparison between what it was and what it is shows that not much has changed in the intervening thirty years.

A ventilation opening for the air conditioning has been installed, there is a small extension next to it and the wall has been given a lick of paint.

Crucially, the dumpster that breaks Homer’s fall is also gone, so he might have a slightly harder landing if he arrived today.

People took over the comments to share their thoughts on how much the place has changed.

One person joked, “I thought it was Four Seasons Landscaping for a moment.”

Another thought it would be appropriate to pay a tribute (or ‘Homerage’?) to the scene, saying, “I’m shocked Homer isn’t painted as a mural on the wall!”

Someone else expressed shock at how much time has passed since the episode aired.

They wrote, “I could have gone about my day just fine without ever knowing it was thirty years ago.”

One person also had a suggestion for the scene that would have changed it significantly.

They wrote, “Instead of a 3D homer they should have used live action homer.”

Of course, find out what Homer would look like in the real world would not be an easy task.
