I-75 South reopens after vehicle is recovered from Tennessee River

LOUDON CO., Tenn. (WVLT) – Multiple crashes shut down I-75 South in Loudon County Friday afternoon, according to officials with the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office.

The crashes were only three miles apart.

One accident occurred at mile marker 74 near the Tennessee River Bridge, involving five cars. The rescue team came with a boat because one of the vehicles ended up over the bridge and into the water.

The other crash occurred just three miles south at mile marker 71. The crash resulted in at least one injury and an ejection, according to LCSO.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol was called to investigate both crashes.

The highway was closed for several hours and reopened Saturday morning after a vehicle was recovered from the Tennessee River late Friday evening.

Additional information, including any injuries, has not been released.

Crews from Priority Ambulance Service, Loudon County Fire/Rescue, Loudon Fire Department, Loudon County Emergency Management, Loudon Police Department and Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency were also on scene.
