Man, 33, charged with driving, drugs and weapons offenses after police chase

A man has been arrested and charged with a number of offenses following a police chase through Glasgow.

The 33-year-old was arrested at around 8.40am on Sunday morning following a police chase from Possilpark to the Charing Cross area.

Police Scotland said the driver “deliberately rammed a number of police vehicles”.

A police statement confirmed that the man has been charged with offenses including dangerous driving; being unfit to drive due to drugs; gun ownership; possession and involvement in the supply of Class A drugs; and driving without a license and insurance. Police said he was also being held because he was wanted.

No injuries have been reported.

The message read: “A number of people may have observed a large police presence in the Charing Cross area earlier today. The motive was a vehicle pursuit after a driver failed to stop for local officers in Possil.

“Glasgow Road Police took over the pursuit, during which the driver deliberately rammed a number of police vehicles. The incident ended at Charing Cross where the vehicle was forcibly stopped and the driver arrested.”

The driver will appear in court on Monday, November 17.
