Several Southwest Airlines flights scheduled to fly to Houston are being diverted to other nearby cities due to an airport emergency William P. Hobby Airport.

The flights will instead land in San Antonio, Austin and New Orleans.

The reason for the diversion appears to be an emergency response to “hot brakes” at Hobby.

KPRC 2 contacted the airport and they gave us the following statement:

“Around 4:50 p.m., there was an alert II for an aircraft experiencing “hot brakes” that generated an emergency response at Hobby airport. That alert ended around 5:10 p.m. There may have been diversions during that time. HOU has been active under normal conditions since the alert ended. You may want to contact Southwest Airlines for more information.”

KPRC 2 also reached out to Southwest for information. We will update this article when they get back to us.

So far the following flights have been affected:

WN2999 from Jackson

WN2025 from Indianapolis

WN3795 from LaGuardia

WN1030 from Panama City

WN554 from Denver

WN419 from Phoenix

WN3007 from San José del Cabo

WN2818 from Chicago
