Shari’a court rules on Jigawa commissioner allegedly caught with married woman

The woman’s husband, Nasiru Buba, had filed a case against Sankara, accusing him of having an illicit affair with his wife.

A higher Sharia court sitting in Kofar Kudu in Kano State ruled that there was no evidence that there was an illicit affair between Sankara and the married woman.

As reported by Daily confidenceThe presiding judge, Ibrahim Sarki Yola, said allegations against prominent persons should be handled with care.

The judge noted that it is important to prevent the reputation of innocent individuals from being unnecessarily tarnished.

“Following the investigation by the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, the report reveals that there is no evidence that an illicit affair took place between Auwal Danladi Sankara and Tasleem Baba Nabegu.”

Sarki Yola concluded that he had no choice but to drop the case as the complainant and his lawyers were not present to challenge the police report.

The commissioner’s counsel, lawyer Sadam Suleiman, said:

“We have always maintained that our client is innocent. The court confirmed this by clearing his name based on the police investigation.”
