Kericho: 2 guards found dead in the Coffee Cooperative Society greenhouse after suspected theft

Kericho – Tragedy struck Nyamanga village in Roret, Bureti sub-county, after two night watchmen of the Roret Coffee Cooperative Society were found murdered in the society’s greenhouse on Sunday evening, November 17.

The guards were reportedly tied up and brutally hacked in the head, killing them instantly.

Residents suspect the attackers were coffee parchment thieves who escaped with an undisclosed number of dried coffee cherry bags.

What happened on the farm of the Roret Coffee Cooperative Society?

According to a report by Citizen Digital, a witness living near a cooperative reportedly saw individuals bringing parchment bags of coffee from the association’s stores, raising the alarm after noticing the illicit activity.

When they realized they had been spotted, the suspects chased him but he escaped and alerted management.

Upon investigation at the scene, management found abandoned bags, likely left behind when the suspects fled. The manager immediately reported the incident to the Roret police station for further investigation.

The bodies were shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem and other necessary procedures.

Kiambu couple found dead, child found alive

In other tragic news, police officers in Kiambu have launched an investigation following the discovery of an 18-month-old child found lying next to the mother’s decomposing body.

The baby’s father, identified as Reuben Ndede, was also found dead in the same room. Preliminary reports indicate the man killed his wife before taking his own life.

The child was taken to hospital for emergency care. Meanwhile, police have yet to determine the woman’s identity.
